Delta X: A Premier Shanghai Study Track for Outstanding Candidates

Outstanding newly admitted students in selected programmes and streams may be offered Delta X on a merit basis — with optional Semester 2 in Shanghai. No separate fellowship application is needed.

What Is Delta X?

Delta X is a merit-based fellowship award for students outside the AI x Web3 stream. If you are admitted to an eligible programme or stream, you are automatically considered based on your admission portfolio — there is no separate application.

Selected outstanding students may be invited to join the Delta X Tech Immersion Fellowship and participate in Shanghai in Semester 2 (optional). Fellowship offers are sent from May to July by email.

Who Is Eligible?

This opportunity applies to newly admitted postgraduate students in the following programmes and streams:

For the AI & Decentralized Technologies (AI x Web3) stream, Delta X is included with admission as the Delta X Bundle (Semester 1 in Shanghai) — not through this merit-based pathway.

How It Works

  • Apply to your programme as usual through the HKU admissions portal.
  • No separate Delta X application — you are automatically considered from your admission portfolio.
  • Merit-based selection — outstanding applicants may receive a fellowship offer by email from May to July.
  • Semester 2 in Shanghai — optional participation for selected awardees at the HKU-CDS Shanghai Teaching & Research Site.
